Medical Director's Corner

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain my job to you. In general, I try to make the job of the practicing physician easier, and at the same time, improve the financial health of BIDPO and BIDMC. Let me outline for you some of my tasks:

  • Support physician practices around Pay for Performance and other quality and efficiency measures in our contracts
  • Oversee the Anvita imaging CDS radiology initiative
  • Assist with education and implementation of formulary compliance
  • Assist individual physicians with thorny out-of-network issues
  • Work with our community case managers, who are working full-time to assist you with your most vulnerable patients
  • Help represent BIDPO in contract issues with the plans – Blue Cross/Blue Shield, TUFTS, Harvard Pilgrim and others
  • Oversee disease management initiatives that have included congestive heart failure, asthma, depression, and diabetes
  • Trouble-shoot credentialing problems or other managed care bureaucratic issues that may arise for our BIDPO physicians
